The Collaboration Between The Canvas 3.0 and Estonian Design House
Estonian design has taken a significant step onto the international stage thanks to a collaboration with The Canvas, a platform focused on sustainable fashion. This partnership has brought the work of Estonian designers to the heart of New York, offering a unique opportunity to showcase our design to the world.
The Canvas 3.0 – A Hub for Sustainable Fashion
The Canvas is a platform representing over 100 brands and designers from more than 40 countries, with a focus on sustainable fashion. Their digital art gallery, The Canvas 3.0, is located in the iconic WTC Oculus building – a masterpiece by architect Santiago Calatrava.
This space bridges the digital and physical worlds, offering visitors unique fashion experiences.
The Canvas CEO and co-founder, Devin Gilmartin, has stated: “The Canvas NYC is known for transforming empty spaces into marketplaces for ethical fashion. Our goal is to showcase the world’s most renowned and innovative projects that connect the digital and physical realms.”
Estonian Design House – Representative of Estonian Design
Estonian Design House (EDH) is a platform that highlights the work of Estonian designers, providing them with opportunities to showcase their creations to a wider audience. The collaboration with The Canvas allows EDH to present the best of Estonian fashion and design in New York, enriching The Canvas’ global collection.
Sokisahtel is an Estonian brand founded in 2010 by two women, Maarja Kasar and Piret Ilver, who describe socks and Sokisahtel as follows:
“The beginnings of Sokisahtel go back more than fifteen years. Back then, people saw socks as something inevitable—just something you had to put on your feet. But we wanted to do things differently. Our goal was to make every pair of socks come with a fun, heartfelt, and sometimes even humorous story.
Sokisahtel is a business created entirely by women, built from scratch, and now providing jobs for 50 women. Our stores offer exciting socks and tights that add a spark to any outfit. We design our products to bring joy to people. Some socks are funnier than others, but in the end, the purpose of socks is to keep both feet and hearts warm while keeping thoughts clear.”
Today, Sokisahtel products have reached customers across multiple continents, proudly carrying the flag of Estonian design and bringing joy to sock lovers all over the world.
