What is Easter?
Easter, Pascha or Resurrection Sunday – a celebration with many names. But what is Easter exactly and why do we celebrate it?
Easter starts on the first full Sunday after the spring solstice – on the 20th of April. It commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ after the crucifixion. At the same time, there is a swing festival or spring holiday for the superstitious to celebrate the rebirth of spring!
Celebrating Easter
It’s a tradition to paint eggs, gift them and tap them – the one whose egg survives is the winner. There are various explanations for the origin of the practice of painting eggs, but it’s probably related to the end of fasting and fertility magic.
During the Easter holidays, children are told about an Easter bunny who hides eggs or sweets in houses or gardens at night. Nowadays, chocolate eggs and rabbits are popular during the holidays.
Pashka Recipe
Our absolute favourite recipe for Easter is a delicious Pashka! The best thing about a Pashka recipe is that you can make it either baked or unbaked. We will be sharing our unbaked version.

- 600g of curd
- 1-2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla sugar
- pistachios
- 2 dl of 35% fresh cream
- 100g of milk chocolate
- gauze (eg from a pharmacy)
- almond chips (about 50g)
- 1 almond of luck in the cake (whoever finds it, gets “luck” all year round)
Preparation
- Take a large bowl and whisk the butter and sugar.
- In another bowl, whip the cream.
- Add curd, lemon juice, grated lemon zest, (egg if desired), melted and chopped milk chocolate, almond chips, and pistachios to the whipped butter and sugar.
- Slowly add the cream to the rest of the ingredients
- Place the mixture in a special gauze-lined pasha mold or sieve to drain.
It is best to leave the cake in the fridge for 24 hours! The next day, fold the pasha on a platter, remove the gauze and decorate with whatever you want.

Some Springtime Easter and Spring Holiday Ideas With Socks
Adorable Sock Bunny
Take a pair of white socks, fill them with rice or soft stuffing, and secure them with a rubber band. Decorate your bunny with felt ears, a fluffy tail, and eyes. You can also create an entire family of sock puppets for the spring holidays! White socks can be turned into chicks, lambs, and more. Add some colorful socks to the mix to make little piglets and calves—the result will delight both kids and adults. Use up all your leftover yarn, fabric scraps, felt, and ribbons to bring your creations to life!
Easter Egg Socks
Take a pair of plain white socks and decorate them with Easter egg designs! Use fabric paints, markers, or iron-on patches to add colorful Easter egg patterns and unique designs. While others are tapping eggs, you’ll be stealing the spotlight with your festive socks!
Spring Holiday Sock Hunt
Hide small treats, like chocolate eggs or candies, inside Easter-themed socks around your home or garden. Outdoors, you can even hang the socks on tree branches for an extra challenge! Then, let the hunt begin—whoever collects the most sock pairs wins! A fun and creative twist on the traditional Easter egg hunt!
Easter Holiday Baskets
Use colorful, patterned socks to create unique Easter baskets for kids. Fill the socks with treats and small toys, tie them with a ribbon or string, and place them in a basket along with Easter eggs.
Easter Sock Wreaths and Garlands
Create a festive Easter wreath using a wire wreath frame and colorful socks. Simply wrap the socks around the frame, tie them in knots, and pull them outward to create a full and fluffy wreath.
For a garland, cut socks into strips, tie them onto a string or ribbon, and hang them up for a fun and decorative touch!
These are just a few ideas on how to incorporate socks into your Easter celebrations. Happy Easter!
